Solar Energy Policies in India ( Solar Thermal Magazine )

Following on from the solar policy announced by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India (MNRE), the National Solar Mission, there have many more regional solar policies announced. Most recently, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) has announced solar tenders of 500MW for 2015. The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has announced solar tenders for 300MW, while the Punjab Energy Development Agency (PEDA) will shortly be announcing solar tenders of 150MW for 2015. The solar project pipeline in India is over 2GW for 2015 alone.

At the INDIASOL 2014 conference (8-9 October, New Delhi), India’s regional solar policy makers will be participating in a panel discussion to be debate the requirements that need to be met to bid on the solar tenders. They will also be networking with the country’s leading solar developers who are interested in putting forward their bids.

Senior level government representatives that will be attending INDIASOL include G V Balaram, Managing Director at KREDA, Sh. M.P. Singh, Jt. Director at PEDA, Tarun Kapoor, Joint Secretary of Solar at the MNRE, V A Vaghela, Director at the Gujarat Energy Development Agency and Ashvini Kumar, Director of Solar at the Solar Energy Corporation India.

They will be joined by senior level representatives from the leading CSP and PV developers in India such as JP Tiwari, Director at Godawari Green Energy Ltd, Dhruv Batra, CEO at Cargo Solar Power, K N Subramaniam, CEO at Moser Baer Solar, Kishor Nair, CEO at Welspun Energy and Pashupathy Gopalan, Managing Director, South Asia & Sub-Saharan Africa at SunEdison.
