A Greener Option In Residential Water Heaters – Heated with Solar Thermal Energy

A Greener Option In Residential Water Heaters – Heated with Solar Thermal Energy When homeowners demand a “greener” option in residential water heaters, that’s the new Cirrex Solar Thermal Water Heating System from A. O. Smith.

Up to 70 percent of the energy needed for a home’s water heating can be captured from the sun with this system, meaning the Cirrex can significantly reduce operating costs and monthly utility bills.

Contractors will appreciate the simplicity of the Cirrex, which is an all-in-one system for easy specification and installation. The system includes solar thermal collectors, a pump station with integrated controls, a thermostatic mixing valve, an expansion tank with mounting kit, and an 80 or 120-gallon tank with collector temperature sensors. A. O. Smith provides all of the components, so contractors have one point of contact for all of their product support, sales, and service needs.

Homeowners can rest assured they’re getting one of the industry’s most advanced solar thermal technology available on the market today. The solar thermal collectors generate as much energy as traditional photovoltaic solar panels, but at one-eighth the cost. What’s more, opting for a bigger tank actually makes the Cirrex system more energy efficient and cost effective. The larger the tank and number of panels incorporated into the system, the more effectively the Cirrex can capture energy from the sun.

With a Solar Energy Factor of 2.5, the Cirrex system is ENERGY STAR® qualified and eligible for a federal tax credit of 30 percent of the total installed cost with no maximum. Additional state and local incentives may also be available. Check with the local power provider for details.

“For homeowners who care about green energy and lower utility bills, there is nothing on the market today that can beat the Cirrex Solar Thermal Water Heating System,” said David Chisolm, brand manager for A. O. Smith Water Products Company. “With the new Cirrex, we are proving once again that A. O. Smith is the innovation leader for the water heating industry.”
