A new 15-megawatt solar plant is now operating at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada.
In total, the facility consists of 8,436 Canadian Solar MaxPower CS6X-310P solar modules.
These efficiencies also will allow solar plants to be competitive with conventional fossil-fueled power plants.
In addition to being the largest solar plant in the region, Luz del Norte will be the biggest solar power facility in the world to sell electricity on an open contract basis, and not necessarily only to regulated clients.
The solar plant located in the Antalya region of Turkey is expected to have a total capacity of 5.8 MW and will utilize 23,650 Trina Solar TSM-PC14 300W 72 cell modules.
