A Residential CHP Unit Using a Free Piston Stirling Engine
Baxi is part of the Baxi Group, one of Europe’s leading heating and home comfort specialists. The company has developed a Micro-CHP unit, the Baxi Ecogen, a free Piston Stirling engine which will generate useable electricity as well as heat for the home.
Baxi Ecogen is a microgeneration unit that generates 1kW of electricity per hour that can be used in the home, while providing up to 24kW of thermal output for space heating and hot water. It has been developed to operate virtually noise free, in a casing that is no bigger than a standard domestic boiler. The Baxi Ecogen is currently on extensive field trials in the UK, with the aim that it will be commercially available during 2009.
