One of the roadblocks for homeowners to install solar panels on their home is the price. Solar panels need to be cheap enough that people feel comfortable investing in them. Another consideration is the installation process itself. The simpler it is to purchase and install solar panels on your home the more likely you will want to do it.
The most common way for consumers to install solar power is to go through a 3rd party company that will design, install and commission a new system. Off course at a premium cost for the services.
IKEA helping homeowners to go solar powered
Swedish home furnishing company, IKEA has a different model to help consumers go solar in Europe. They are now selling solar power systems for homewoners. As you can see their new sales slogan is to save up to 50% off your energy bill by installing IKEA solar power.
In the US, Lowes has recently announced that they are selling home solar power systems as well.

One caution here is that installing solar panels can be a dangerous activity. Solar panels produce the same kind of power as grid electrcity and if it not treated with respect it can injure or kill you.
Only licensed electricians should do the wiring of such a system.
