Elon Musk deserves so much credit for focusing consumers and established automakers on the very real option of electric cars. Cars that someday will been just as affordable as combustion engine models but with performance that is far superior. Oh, and they do not need to cause the emissions of any greenhouse gases.
Elon however is not the only entreprenuer with foresight to produce disruptive green technology. Take for example what this Chineese team ehang has accomplished so far.
eHang the company describes itself as:
As the world’s leading tech company of intelligent aerial vehicles
ehang is producing electric aerial vehicles that are autonomous in nature. So no driver! Aerial so no wheels. Electric so no fuel tank or radiators.
You simply get in, program your destination like you would any gps and sit back to enjoy the ride. It will not be long before someone offers this as a alternative to UBER and regular taxis service.
The all electric autonomous aerial vehicle – ehang
The unit is basically an oversized autonomous electric drone. The vehicle features four lift units, spaced 90 degrees apart. Each lift unit consists of two independant electric drive rotors. This ensures sufficient redundency to promise safe arrival even if several rotor motors fail for whatever reason.
Manufacturing of this vehicle is simple and very easy compared to a car or a regular small engine plane. Most of the components will be able to be 3D printed and then assembled in a small area. This will ensure a low cost for the ehang vehicles. It may also start a revolution in manufacturing technigues that extends beyond this product.
Entreprenuers like this one are springing up all over the world. These are the visionaries that are changing our world.
