It seems that Brazil may have finally shifted their energy emphasis from hydro electric generation to solar power. In the last few months they granting contracts for the construction of 31 solar parks as it tries to diversify its sources of generation.
The country now finds themselves in the middle of an energy crisis caused by the worst drought in eight decades which has greatly reduced the volume of water available behind their dams.
Brazil currently gets 90 % of its electricity from hydro electric power.
