SolarBOS, a manufacturer of Balance of System products for the solar industry, has donated $25,000 to the Kids’ Food Basket in Grand Rapids, MI, where SolarBOS recently opened a second manufacturing facility.

“We strongly believe that successful corporations need to give back to the communities in which they are located,” said SolarBOS Founder and CEO Jason Schripsema.

It continues to amaze me that in the United States almost one fifth of all school children don’t get proper nutrition every day. This has terrible consequences not just for these children today, but for our country’s future. Making a small donation to help fight this problem right in our own backyard is the least we can do, and I challenge other solar companies to do the same.

Kids’ Food Basket is a non-profit organization attacking childhood hunger to help young people learn and live well. Their goal is to ensure lunch is not the last meal of the day for over 6,300 kids at 36 schools in Grand Rapids and Muskegon. Sack Suppers are well-rounded evening meals that provide nutrition critical to the development of the brain and body.

“We know that while poverty is very complex, feeding a child is not. When kids have access to nourishing food, their minds and bodies grow strong and they do better in school,” says Bridget Clark Whitney, the Executive Director of Kids’ Food Basket.

Because of the generous support from SolarBOS, we can provide children daily access to nutritious Sack Suppers that contain the brain food, healthy habits, and a touch of love to help local kids thrive.
