AT&T And SunEdison Join To Deliver 677 Kilowatt Solar System In Texas

SunEdison, Inc. , the world’s largest renewable energy development company, today announced the completion of a 677 kilowatt ground-mount solar photovoltaic (PV) system that will provide energy for the AT&T ┬ámaterials distribution facility in Lancaster, Texas.

“SunEdison and AT&T have a long history of working together to develop and implement renewable energy systems at AT&T sites inNew Jersey and California,” said Rafael Dobrzynski, SVP and General Manager of Commercial and Industrial Distributed Generation at SunEdison. “We’re really pleased we can deliver great energy savings in their home state of Texas.”

AT&T and SunEdison have worked together since 2010, and in 2012 AT&T awarded SunEdison with a Supplier Sustainability Award for helping launch its solar energy efforts. This 677 kilowatt ground-mount solar power plant is the latest collaboration between the companies. The system is constructed using 2,000 high-efficiency SunEdison solar panels. SunEdison is also working with TerraForm Power on this project.

AT&T and SunEdison’s fleet of solar power arrays have generated over 8.6 million kWh of clean on-site energy. From an environmental perspective, this is estimated to have prevented over 13 million pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.1 That’s equivalent to 14,000,000 car miles not driven, the power to run 540 homes for a year, or the CO2 benefit of 4,000 acres of US forests.2
