20 MW Solar Power Project in the High Altitude Region of Tibet

The project is another solar power project of the Group approved at high altitude region of Tibet

The board of directors of China WindPower Group Limited this week announced that the Group has obtained approval from Tibet Autonomous Region Development and Reform Commission of a 20 megawatts (MW) solar power project in Tibet Autonomous Region.

The project is located in Shannan Prefecture Cuomei County with an installed capacity of 20MW. The on-grid tariff is RMB1.15 per kilowatt hour (“Kwh”) and the expected utilization hours for the first year of operation is approximately 1,900 hours.

The project is another solar power project of the Group approved at high altitude region of Tibet since the Naidong 20MW solar power project in Tibet commissioned on 23 December 2014.

  • With the rapid development of economy, China’s appetite for electricity is getting larger and larger. The current coal-dominated electricity matrix has caused severe environmental degradation and energy shortage. China should make use of renewable energy resources to help transform its economy into a low-carbon one.
