Ohio-based retail energy provider Star Energy Partners™ is now offering innovative green energy plans to consumers in Ohio.
“We believe that consumers should have a choice not only in their utility rate, but also in their environmental impact,” said Tony Banks, Chief Executive Officer of Star Energy Partners. “Our customers can help make a difference without having to switch electricity providers, making it easy for them to reduce their carbon footprint.”
A key component of Star Energy’s newly added green energy plans are Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) which provide funding for electricity that is generated by a renewable source such as wind, biomass, hydro, and solar power. For every megawatt hour Star Energy customers use, the company will purchase an equal amount of RECs on the consumers’ behalf. The additional RECs support the ongoing investment in clean, renewable energy while supporting the movement to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, achieve energy independence in America.
Customers have the option of two green energy plans through Star Energy. The Local Plan allows customers to choose RECs which specifically support Ohio-certified renewable energy. These sources can be a mix of wind, solar, biomass or hydropower from facilities inOhio or adjacent states. The National Plan allows customers to choose the RECs that support wind-generated power supplied anywhere across the nation. Additional details about the new green energy plans and rates can be found at www.starenergypartners.com/green-energy.
“By offering these green energy plans with RECs, we are showing the commitment of Star Energy Partners to renewable energy technology and production that will sustain the earth’s resources for future generations,” added Banks. “This is consistent with our overall strategy and mission to bring a variety of energy efficiency products and services to our customers.”
By participating in this green energy program and purchasing RECs, Star and its customers are supporting the renewable energy market and incentivizing competition in the industry. Supporting the industry helps ensure continued grow and development while reducing reliance on foreign energy suppliers.
