In New York State, Clarkson University which among other things offers courses in sustainability and solar energy has recently installed a solar pv power system large enough to provide up to 10% of the campus’s current total electric energy requirements.
This ground mounted solar pv power array is capable of making up to one million kWhs of clean electricity. The system includes online dashboards that let the students monitor and study the actual performance of the solar panels through the day and seasonal changes.
Clarkson University is a private research university located in Potsdam, New York. It was founded in 1896 and has an enrollment of about 3,700 students.
Around the world you see solar and clean energy projects being developed and completed at Universities and Colleges. It is important that the next generation of leaders embrace clean energy and reject the unsustainable fossil fuel economy that we are tied to. It is this generation that will need to show the leadership necessary to break away from old thinking and ensure a sustainable energy infractruture for hundreds of years to come.
Way to go Clarkson University!
