Solar Thermal Technology to Brew Beer Colorado ( Solar Thermal Magazine) – In the U.S. the microbrewery or craft beer industry has exploded to over a $ 60 billion a year  with American’s choosing to buy beers that are made in smaller batches by family or small breweries. The driving force behind this has been access to more variety and higher quality beer. The latest subset of this is beer made in sustainable way from clean energy in the brewing process. You can guess that making craft beer with solar thermal energy is our favorite.

In this video, the gang from Brewdogs head to Colorado to visit a craft beer maker that is pioneering the use of solar thermal power technology to make their beer. The team starts the water boiling using a parabolic dish alone and then to boost the available solar energy they a Fresnel lens to the process.
