Japan Getting Set to be a World Leader in Installed Solar Energy Capacity

Installed Solar Energy Capacity

Installed Solar Energy Capacity ( Solar Thermal Magazine). Bloomberg New Energy Finance is reporting on the fact that since 2012, Japan has added roughly 11 Gigawatts of solar capacity to their generation mix. They have so far approved another 72 Gigawatts for solar capacity to be installed in the coming years.

An average nuclear reactor generating electricity much like the infamous Fukushima reactor, have a capacity of about of about 4 to 5 gigawatts of power. Given this it looks like Japan is getting set to built about the equivalent of 15 nuclear reactors worth of Solar.

This will make them arguably the Solar Energy capital of Asia.
