System Level Fire Testing at UL for U.S. Residential Solar PV Systems

U.S. Residential Solar PV Systems ( Solar Thermal Magazine ) – PanelClaw announces a new milestone in the continued evolution as the market leader for flat roof mounting system. Today, PanelClaw’s Polar Bear III flat roof mounting system becomes the first flat roof product in the world to successfully complete system level fire testing at Underwriters Laboratories to UL 1703/2703.

With this landmark milestone achievement, all projects in North America installed with PanelClaw’s Polar Bear III and appropriately typed modules can conform to the new “fire” test portion of UL 1703 and UL 2703.

This system level test was developed through a collaboration of UL’s 1703 and 2703 technical committees. “Our collaboration with UL will not only make permitting easier in California, where new fire regulations for commercial rooftop PV will soon go into effect, it will also ensure that module and mounting system manufacturers have the ability to demonstrate the performance of their products at a system level to their customers and to AHJ’s,” says Mark Gies, VP Reliability and Compliance.
