Ireland Based DP Energy Affirms Commitment to Ocean Energy

Ocean Energy – Cork, Ireland-based DP Energy has become the latest sponsor of the European Ocean Energy Association, joining major players in the field including Alstom, DCNS, EDF, GDF Suez, Scottish Development International, Scottish Power Renewables and Siemens. The decision to become a leading sponsor of the Association and take a seat on the board affirms DP Energy’s commitment to the ocean energy sector and places DP Energy firmly at the centre of the industry.

CEO Simon De Pietro, a tireless advocate of ocean energy, said, “DP Energy is committed to the delivery of marine energy projects and is delighted to be working with Ocean Energy Europe and the key ocean renewable industry members to help deliver together, what will be a significant and key part of the sustainable energy future for Europe”.

The move comes soon after the transfer of the Westray South project in Orkney, Scotland from SSE Renewables to DP Energy. The acquisition increases DP Energy’s overall portfolio of tidal energy projects to 330MW making the company the largest independent developer in Europe, with a number of other projects in the pipeline.
