Developing Solid Oxide Fuel Cells – Video showing the facility that test new solid oxide fuel cells for efficiency and effectiveness. Solid oxide fuel cells in general convert hydrogen and oxygen into electricity in a far more efficient way than the oxidation 0r combustion of fossil fuels and the use of the pressure from the expanding gases to ultimately turn a generator and make electricity. At the present state fuel cell technology however the costs are still very high. In the future fuels cell will be able to economically convert methane or mixed alcohol bio-fuels into electricity and heat.
