Launched by ABB at the Light & Building fair in Frankfurt, Germany, this week, [email protected] can be installed quickly and the application is easy to understand.
Tarak Mehta, head of ABB’s Low Voltage Products division, said,
This is a ground breaking development, making home automation accessible to more individuals and families, while providing a business opportunity for electrical installers. Homes or apartments become intelligent more simply than ever before
The installation of [email protected] is extremely easy for the engineering technician and investment in new software is not required. This opens up a new market for many installers who thought they would need extensive training and investment to enter the home control market.
No special software required
Mobile control of the lighting, heating and blinds via smartphone or tablet
Functions and comfort features can be changed and extended at any time
The central element of the system, the System Access Point, enables access to the project planning, startup and visualization using a PC or tablet. Then, the functions of the system can be defined and programmed by using a ‘wizard’ which guides the user step by step through the required programming steps.
Preconfigured sensor/actuator units for the flush-mounted box already offer basic functions without any programming, e.g. for operating the blinds or controlling the lights. So as soon as the system is installed, it can be used. Through the integration of the control elements with numerous switch programs from ABB, the new home control system offers high design quality that can be tailored to individual requirements. [email protected] allows people to configure different scenes: a relaxing environment to watch a film in the evening; mood lighting for a dinner; or spot lighting for the best work environment in an office space.
Once it has been installed, the user can call up the user interface on the computer, tablet or smartphone and alter the settings themselves through an app.
