1.2 MW of DuraTrack™ HZ Enters the South Carolina Energy Scene
The completion of Colleton Solar Farm was celebrated today at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Walterboro, South Carolina. The 3 MW facility is currently the largest solar installation in the state, and is home to 1.2 MW of Array Technologies’ market-leading DuraTrack HZ single-axis tracker. The owner, TIG Sun Energy, with the support of Alder Energy Systems and Gregory Electric, hosted the event to celebrate this landmark project.
The project features more than 10,000 photovoltaic panels and occupies 14 acres along Interstate 95. Colleton Solar Farm is a highly visible symbol of South Carolina’s commitment to an economy propelled by competitive, reliable and clean energy resources. The solar farm will serve as an instrument for learning how to integrate solar energy into a complex power system.
Colleton Solar Farm joins a region booming with solar initiatives. North Carolina alone has more than 388 MW of installed solar capacity while Georgia and Florida combined employ more than 3,500 solar industry professionals. The outlook for solar on the east coast grows sunnier as more local utilities incentivize sun-harvesting technology.
Chosen for its field-tested durability, reliability and robust performance in hurricane-force conditions, the DuraTrack HZ system has been installed in more projects worldwide than any other tracker on the market. With installations in all 50 states, and over two decades of experience, Array Technologies’ trackers are designed with a minimization of materials that makes for efficient installation, while maintaining a high level of durability built to last in the elements.
