The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has updated its rules about siting solar project at or near airport facilities (78 FR 63276).  One key aspect of the new rules is guidelines about siting to avoid instances of glare, potentially dangerous reflections off of solar equipment.  Patrick Magnotta from the FAA will brief attendees on the new rules all developers should be aware of when siting a project near or on airport property.

Sandia National Labs has developed a free online tool to help developers avoid glare issues while maximizing annual energy production.  Dr. Cliff Ho will demonstrate the Solar Glare Hazard Analysis Tool (www.sandia.gov/glare) and provide tips for developers to better site their projects.

Become familiar with forthcoming rules from the Federal Aviation Administration governing solar power plants on/near airports.
