DEK Solar Presents Findings at World Solar Congress

DEK Solar, the global provider of screen printing equipment and processes for fuel cell and solar cell manufacture, used the leading gathering for the solar industry, World Solar Congress in Shanghai, to present the latest process technology improvements achieved via its state-of-the-art metallization platforms.

Brian Lau, Director of DEK Solar & Process Support Products and Commercial Management and Dr. Xiao Chen, Chief Technology Officer of DEK Solar, presented the results of recent tests by DEK Solar and DuPont Microcircuit Materials (MCM), a leading global manufacturer of high efficiency photovoltaic metallization pastes, which showed a total reduction of silver consumption of up to 40% and a relative increase in cell efficiency by more than 0.5% for dual print (in comparison to an industry standard single screen print process). These results were achieved by using a stencil to print the fine lines and a mesh screen to print a dedicated busbar paste. Delegates were keen to discover how DEK is able to help them improve capacity and efficiency through these technology advancements in order to build for the future.

World Solar Congress was attended by over 47 top solar personnel, many of whom are CEOs, CTOs and VPs representing the whole supply chain. DEK was a gold sponsor of the event and is committed to developing innovations and technologies that provide sustainable solutions to the solar industry.

As a testament to DEK’s commitment to the solar industry, the company has recently been voted one of the top 50 PV equipment suppliers for 2012 in China. Organised by one of China’s most widely read PV publications, Modern PV and Solar PV Magazine, the rankings followed an intense two months of voting process across five award categories. The panel of voters consisted of solar industry professionals, researchers and government bodies across China.

Dr Xiao Chen, Chief Technology Officer of DEK Solar, commented: “The demand for solar as an alternative energy source has never been greater, meaning that reducing costs and increasing efficiency are key priorities for our customers and the industry as a whole. To address this and prepare our customers for future market developments, DEK Solar has used its knowledge of the solar industry and its long-established expertise in screen printing to develop solutions such as the ultra fine line dual stencil print process.”
