New SJ3 Solar Cell is Recognized as One of the Most Technologically Significant Products

Magazine 2012 R&D 100 Award for its innovative SJ3 solar cell. It its 50th year, R&D 100 Awards recognize the 100 most technologically significant products that have been introduced into the marketplace over the past year.
Solar Junction claimed the world record for solar cell efficiency of 43.5% in April 2010 with the SJ3 Cell, which was verified by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and by Fraunhofer Institute. The company is currently on a path to deliver a median cell efficiency of 42% on 150mm substrates. Solar Junction’s goal is to deliver the most efficient cell into the market to help drive down the cost and increasing the CPV module power output.
