Solar Powered Surveillance System for Commercial Applications

Solar Powered Surveillance System for Commercial ApplicationsInstalling Emergency Assistance Stations (EAS) and surveillance cameras in remote and difficult locations can be costly, time-consuming and disruptive. Yet it is these areas that oftentimes benefit most from the added safety of these security elements — connecting students on playfields to campus security, employees in parking lots to security personnel and trail users to the nearest emergency responder. Now available, Solar Secure is the first solar-powered security product designed to enable the deployment of EAS and cameras with renewable, redundant energy sources and wireless communications.

Solar Secure is the only easy-to-deploy and environmentally friendly product on the market that provides a self-sustaining, uninterruptible power and communications source for an EAS, cameras, Wi-Fi and more. It can be installed anywhere, bringing security coverage and wireless communications to otherwise neglected remote places, such as parks and trailheads, and to urban areas including educational, corporate and healthcare campuses.

“Based on our experience working with large enterprise customers, we realized that the chief barriers to installing Emergency Assistance Stations and surveillance cameras in these areas is the environmental impact and high cost of trenching to supply the necessary power and data connections,” says Ryan Foucault, Solar Secure Product Manager. “We are excited to provide our customers with the ability to extend security coverage beyond traditional limits with a solution that is not only better for the environment, but is easier to install and more cost-effective than conventionally installed systems.”

Solar Secure generates all of the energy it needs to power its components and the associated EAS from solar panels. Hydride fuel cells are also included as a backup power source. Because it is net zero energy and operates via wireless communications, installation does not require trenching or extensive site preparation.

Each structure houses the patent-pending Solar System(TM) communications, energy and technology platform, which is the only technology that seamlessly combines environmentally friendly energy sources with robust wireless communications. In addition to providing power and communications to the EAS, Solar Secure enables additional security features, such as situational video surveillance, LED lighting and alert capabilities in the case of a tsunami, earthquake, or other disaster.

As the first of the SolarConnect line of products, Solar Secure is currently available in three models — SunStation, SunBench and SunTower — each of which can be customized based on necessary capabilities, location, existing infrastructure and standards.

Solar Secure was developed by Cochran. The structures were designed by Mithun and are manufactured by Sellen.
