GUELPH, Ontario,- Canadian Solar Inc., one of the world’s largest solar power companies, this week announced that  it will host a major Job Fair this Friday, February 11, 2011 at its new solar module manufacturing facility located at 545 Speedvale Avenue, West in Guelph, Ontario.

Openings include process technicians, general operators, logistic coordinators and quality engineers, among others. Potential candidates can meet with Canadian Solar’s Human Resource specialists from 9 am to 5 pm.

Shawn Qu, President and CEO, Canadian Solar Inc. commented, “Canadian Solar’s Ontario manufacturing facility underscores our commitment to the Canadian market. We intend to hire the best as we have done in our other locations worldwide. Attracting top talent will help ensure our competitive edge as we strive to meet the growing demands of Canada’s solar photovoltaic (PV) market. We have a long-term commitment to this important market, and have previously announced our selection of Guelph, Ontario as the site of a 200 megawatt solar PV module plant. This facility will be Canadian Solar’s first feed-in-tariff domestic content compliant solar manufacturing plant in Ontario, and is expected to require approximately 500 people to run at full capacity.”

Several dignitaries will also be on hand at the job fair to greet job seekers and to make a special presentation from 10 am to 10:45 am. Special guests include Guelph MP, Frank Valeriotte; Guelph MPP, Liz Sandals and Guelph Mayor, Karen Farbridge.

“Canadian Solar is a leader in establishing an Ontario Solar Module Manufacturing facility here in Guelph and it is exciting to see this project move from planning to hiring. Ontario’s feed-in-tariff for renewable energy will continue to create more clean energy jobs and will ensure economic growth in Guelph and across the province not just for today but also for the future,” said Liz Sandals, MPP for Guelph.

Guelph Mayor, Karen Farbridge added, “This is an exciting day for Guelph, as Canadian Solar’s impact on our community becomes tangible with the hiring of hundreds of new employees. I am hopeful that Canadian Solar will find the skilled talent they need, right here in our community.”
